Part of my research has been reading a few books and two stand out. "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt and "Bad Therapy" by Abigail Shrier. Both very interesting! Below is a good video summarizing some of my concerns since 2011. Enjoy Dr. Piascik is a "Happy Teacher" Spotlight for SeptemberI am very honored to be spotlighted on Dennis Haft's website of "Happy" teachers! I met him at the Schools to Watch convention and he works for the Ohio Department of Education. He loved Mr. Pizzo's and my presentation on the "Culture of Education: Then, Now, and Beyond" and later we sat down and discussed education in detail.
Thank you and enjoy the feature. https://happy-teachers.org/teacher-spotlight/ Thank you for the great gift to see Bruce Springsteen in concert! On Saturday, Anne and I saw the most amazing concert due to your thoughtfulness, generosity, and coolness!
Bruce & the E Street Band performed at such a high level! It was a REAL rock concert that was not full of explosions, fancy dancing, lighting effects, and fluff. Nope, just ROCK AND ROLL! There was also some very moving moments when he payed tributes to old band members and the past. A truly memorable concert that I will never forget! Thank you again for such a wonderful gift of music, life, and love. Peace and see you soon! Dr. Piascik What a great trip! The Symphonic Band and Select Chorus returned on Friday with high honors from the "Music in the Parks" trip to Dorney Park. The judges had wonderful comments about our programs at BRMS and the talent our young musicians displayed in the great PA concert halls. I am extremely proud that the band returned with a "Superior" rating with a high score. I loved the comment on the tape from a judge, "This is a really good band, thank you." Thank you all, students and chaperones, for a wonderful trip. See you next year! Rock on! Everyone should watch this!Things are always challenging, and they should be. I see some students, adults, and parents give up too fast. They think that life is easy and they "deserve" to not work for great results. This video nicely explains that we all have to change our attitudes and "Handle the HARD better!" Today BRMS Music had a great day! The day started with an awesome breakfast and presentation that I prepared for the students. The presentation introduced musical ideas, ecosystems, and thought processes that are included in the concert that we were going to attend today. With this knowledge, the students could listen more carefully and understand the intentions and beauty of the music. We then traveled to NYC to see the New York Philharmonic in concert at the new Geffen Hall in Lincoln Center! What an experience for the student to hear such a high quality ensemble play music from the 1600's to today! Thank you to all the parents, administration, and students for such a moving and inspirational day! Congrats on a great concert today!I am so proud of the students who decided to work on a solo or duet over the summer and perform for us today! What fantastic playing!
We all gathered this morning to celebrate their music and success. The audience was so professional and respectful to all the performers with loud cheers and excitement. I am so very proud to be part of this team of students at BRMS. Chester Rocks! Hello everyone!
I hope summer is going well and that you are relaxing and having fun. After returning from a wonderful couple of weeks in the mountains (no service), the first video I see is the one above. Such a wonderful tribute to music, the world, and culture! As we always say at BRMS,"It's in-between the notes." Peace & Rhythm to you all and see you soon to rock BRMS! Dr. Piascik The BRMS Symphonic Band received a "Superior" Rating at the Festivals of Music last Friday. I am so proud of their musicianship and leadership! We had to leave early due to thunderstorms and a tornado watch, but we had a great time performing on a real stage and riding some of the attractions at Dorney Park. I overheard the best summary of our group from the bus driver. He was on his phone while I was organizing the tickets and I heard him tell his wife about us in a very bragging tone: - Professional - Really awesome people - Polite - Organized - He was very impressed with everything about us! He even mentioned that our awesome principal, Mr. White, was there to support us. We were not able to receive the "Espirit De Corps" since we left early, but I am convinced that we deserved the honor and I am so proud of everyone! Thank you for making my days full of great music, laughter, and professionalism.
