Papa, How do you like your new iPad?

Papa, How do you like your new iPad? I used this video in our presentation at the "School to Watch" convention in Washington DC this past week.
We have to remember that technology is a tool that we must use correctly. Enjoy! I just want to say thank you! This has been a great year full of music, laughter, joy and friendship. You all make me so proud to be a teacher at Chester. Everyday I walk through the doors and look forward to your cheerful smiles and positive attitudes. I will miss you all during the summer (But, I will not miss getting up at 5am). I will work hard preparing for another exciting year. Please enjoy your summer and relax. Maybe even practice? Peace and music! True StoryLast week I posted about Graham Cracker and Fluff-a-nutter practicing with such joy. For the past few weeks they have been working on music and thinking of new ways to perform their music.
On Friday, I heard that they plan on performing at their grandmother's nursing home! How beautiful. The idea orginated with them as a way to give back to the community with their music. I suggested a format for the concert and they only became more excited. Can you imagine how happy they are going to make the audience on that day! One of the things that makes my job so much fun is witnessing the students light up as they walk through the band room door. They walk in, smile, laugh, joke, salute, dance, sing and many more things. The band room is safe and fun place! I am honored. I just want to write a quick note about a very cool lesson today. Graham Cracker and Fluffanutter asked for a time to rehearse their talent show piece. I was working on other things as they rehearsed on their own. What I heard made me so proud to be part of BRMS. They were having so much fun!!!! They understand the power of music. They made mistakes, fixed them, laughed, made goals to make it better and worked so well together. I had a smile from one end of the room to the other! Thank you for ending my week with so much excitement! Have a great weekend! ...Yesterday we videotaped our sample lesson for the Grammys. What a FUN time we had!!! With six of my students, and my Dad videotaping, we displayed a sample of what a lesson is like at BRMS. We laughed, learned, rolled with the interruptions, and had fun. My Dad commented on what a great "vibe" we have in the band room. I agree! I am very proud of the students and can not wait to see the tape on Sunday. I also made the two other videos I need to create for the next phase of the Grammys. I will submit my final application on Sunday. Then we wait till August to find out who becomes a finalist and the Grammy winner. There are so many great educators in this nation. I am so honored to be on this list of 217 out of over 30,000. However, my fingers are still crossed. I will post a link to my videos for you all to watch around June 12th. Have a great weekend! |
